INFORMED VOTERS - FAIR JUDGES HOLD FESTIVE HAPPY HOUR FOR THE BALANCE OF POWER

Miami, Florida – State judiciary, civic organizations, legal professionals and citizens attended the Happy Hour for the Balance of Power on October 25th, 2017 at Novecento in support of the Informed Voters Project, a nonpartisan civics-education campaign of the National Association of Women Judges.

Attendees engaged in a trivia game that tested their knowledge of the state judiciary and American government. This sparked the conversation of voter education and the importance of the Informed Voters Project’s commitment to providing citizens with the tools they need to make an informed vote when electing their state judiciary.

Throughout the evening, guest speakers Florida Supreme Court Justice Barbara J. Pariente, Florida Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court Judge Sarah Zabel and Florida Third

Court of Appeal Judge Kevin Emas each discussed the importance of remaining fair and impartial along with the challenges that they have faced in charged political environments.

About the Informed Voters Project
The National Association of Women Judges launched the Informed Voters Project in 2012 as a nonpartisan civic education initiative to inform citizens about the role of the judicial branch and raise awareness of political attacks that threaten fair and impartial courts. The Informed Voters Project has developed into a nationwide award winning program through the full support of its leadership: California Chief Justice Cantil-Sakauye, Miami attorney Linda Leali, Florida Supreme Court Justice Barbara Pariente and North Carolina Supreme Court Justice Robin Hudson. Through the development of educational materials and resources for public education, the Informed Voters Project provides citizens with the tools they need to make an informed vote and protect fair and impartial courts.
